Event Details

One of the most important and challenging responsibilities of a paramedic program is determining when each student achieves competency. In the current educational environment, competency is determined through observation and establishing the minimum number of patient encounters by age range, chief complaint, and interventions. The conversation continues about methodologies to assess competency, the recommended minimums, and successfully tracking student attainment. The focus has shifted to Student Minimum Competency (SMC), detailed in the materials published by CoAEMSP. Explore the current recommendations and frequent pitfalls in documentation, interpretation of the recommendations, and student tracking reports that are required.
